The Polish Accreditation Committee is an independent institution working on behalf of education quality improvement. The primary objectives of the Committee is to observe fulfilment of standards agreed for higher education referring to best models adopted in European and global academic area as well as to support public and non-public higher education institutions in the process of enhancement of quality education and building of culture of quality. These activities aim to ensure that graduates of Polish higher education institutions rank high on the national and international labour markets, and to enhance the competitiveness of Polish higher education institutions as European organisations.
In its activity, the Polish Accreditation Committee is driven by the public interest, as the quality and effectiveness of education contribute greatly to building intellectual capital and civic society.
The Polish Accreditation Committee carries out its mission by conducting obligatory programme evaluations of quality of education and by giving opinions on applications for the authorisation to provide degree programmes submitted by higher education institutions. The Committee takes care to ensure that its opinions, evaluations and recommendations leave ample space for autonomous initiatives promoting innovativeness in the teaching process and education quality culture.
The Polish Accreditation Committee acts with a sense of responsibility for decisions influencing development of the higher education, building its credibility through the objectivity of the evaluations and opinions, professionalism in the activities taken, adherence to the principle of openness and transparency of the applied procedures, precision of statements justifying the adopted resolutions and respect for academic traditions.
The Polish Accreditation Committee makes its duty comprehensive cooperation and dialogue with all stakeholders of the education process, including academic circles, candidates for students, employers, and state and public administration bodies. The Committee undertakes co-operation initiatives in this area, also in the international arena, and co-operates actively with other accreditation committees and international organisations that bring them together in the implementation of the Bologna Process and the development of the European Higher Education Area.
